Frequently Asked Questions
What does Acupuncture feel like?
Most people find Acupuncture painless, although there are some sensations you might experience. A tiny pinch at the site of insertion, tingling or mild throbbing may be felt. Usually these feelings are comfortable and relaxing. There may also be a slight sensation on some points (often described as a dull ache or tingling) when the needle initially meets the Acupuncture point and this quickly fades.
Do you use disposable needles?
Yes, we only use the high quality, single use Acupuncture needles.
As members of the Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand and Acupuncture NZ we of Acupuncture we always adhere to strict hygiene and safety procedures.
What if I'm scared of needles?
Our Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and are nothing like the needles used for injections or blood tests. Most people are comfortable to have Acupuncture once they see how fine the needles are. The needles are inserted either for a few seconds or left in place for 20-30 mins depending on the results needed. However, if you prefer you can have Acupressure without the use of needles.
Is there a cancellation fee for missed appointments?
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice may incur a 50% fee and missed appointments may be charged at the full rate.
Please note: If your ACC claim is declined for any reason, you will be responsible for the full cost of treatment received.
